Study Task 6 - Solid Drawing

Solid Drawing refers to applying form, weight, volume and solidity to a drawing to make it more three dimensional and in this task we were asked to develop our understanding of solid drawing through multiple observational drawings of people going about their daily lives.

Collaboration of solid drawings

I think the hardest part of this task was trying to find anyone who would keep a pose for a full two minutes - the majority of my sketches were done over a few seconds because of this.

As someone who has never worked with lines of action before though, I do feel that there was progressive improvement over my drawings throughout this task and that I started to get the hang of capturing the basic poses. This is something I'd be happy to try to improve in my own time.
